Joint Doctoral Committee (JDC)
The Joint Doctoral Committee is the ultimate decision-making body of the Consortium. It decides on the strategy of the Consortium and approves the EDE-EM program activities. It is composed by the Coordinator of the programme (who is chairing the Joint Doctoral Committee), the Deputy of the Programme, and two persons chosen by each partner university. The JDC meets at least two times a year: a first time in the Winter Meeting (January) alternating among the participating universities and a second time in the Summer Meeting in Paris (June).
In the fulfilment of the democracy principle, each partner has one vote. A quorum of two-thirds (2/3) of the partners is required for major financial and strategic decisions. Decisions will be taken by a majority of two-thirds (2/3) of the partners present. Every institution of the Consortium has a veto power over decisions involving this institution and can be conveyed by its representative in the JDC.
The JDC regulates and manages the programme, and notably performs the following tasks:
- creates the conditions necessary for implementation of the agreement;
- selects the candidates and the fellowships from applicants and allocates them among the universities;
- pays attention to the principle of gender equality and has a pro-active policy toward the applicants with special needs;
- changes the conditions for the participation in the Joint Doctorate, if specific reasons require it;
- controls the procedures of the programme of studies;
- approves the change of members of the JDC;
- manages exceptions and problematic cases;
- deals with doctoral candidates under probation, including the exclusion of unsatisfactory students;
- decides upon changes, such as the Study Programme, the structure and the credit recognition scheme of the Joint Doctorate;
- defines the financial regulations and particularly the distribution rules of the participation costs.
Executive Committee
The Executive Committee is in charge of the contacts with the European Commission administration. It is composed by the coordinator of the programme (who is chairing the Executive Committee), the Deputy of the Programme, an elected member of the Scientific Advisory Board, a student elected among the representative students, and the Coordinator Office Manager. The Executive Committee meets regularly to organize the agenda of the EDEEM activities and defining the targets that each partner university is required to implement; for instance, the intra-Consortium mobility conditions. The Executive Committee is responsible to the Joint Doctoral Committee for its decisions.
Network Board
The Network Board is composed by the members of the Joint Doctoral Committee and by one representative of each Associated Partner institution. The Network Board meets once a year, following a meeting of the JDC. The Network Board is in charge of all the questions concerning the link between the Consortium and associated partners, with notably the following questions:
- enhancing the networking of the EDE-EM Programme,
- providing opportunities to EDE-EM students with short or long stays at the Associated Partner location.
- organizing joint events (Courses, Jamborees, Seminars, Conferences);
- participating in the promotion of the programme.
Scientific Advisory Board
The EDEEM Doctorate is monitored by an Advisory Board of ten members, 7 internationally recognized academics (including 4 Nobel Prize laureates) and 3 high-level professional experts in the field of economics. The Scientific Advisory Board supervises and coordinates the scientific part of the EDE-EM project with the Executive Committee and the Joint Doctoral Committee. The Advisory Board is chaired by the Scientific Director who is elected among its members.
