Important features of the Programme
Mobility: stay of at least two semesters in two universities of the Consortium
Joint supervision with two supervisors, one in each institution
Possibility of additional mobility within the Consortium or outside, including intership
All scientific courses in English
Mandatory courses on the local language: 2 ECTS per semester during 3 years (= 12 ECTS, for the 3 years)
Presentation of a research paper at least 3 times: in each of the two supervising universities of the Consortium and in the annual EDE-EM Jamboree
Joint Doctorate degree, entitled "European Doctorate in Economics - Erasmus Mundus", officially recognized as a doctorate degree by the mobility universities, with the same rights and duties as their national degree
Double degree if one of the mobility universities is not part of the Joint Doctorate Degree Consortium. This double degree consists of two independent degrees awarded by the two mobility universities. Each degree is fully recognized in the country in which it has been issued. Both degree-granting universities will sign a Co-tutelle Agreement which fully recognizes the doctoral training of the PhD student in the other university
Every year a scientific activity is organized for the entire cohort of PhD students (Summer School in the first year, and Jamborees in the two other years)
Progress Report at the end of each year, to be approved by the Joint Doctoral Committee
Teaching Assistant position possible for each student in the Programme
Employement Contract under French Low (through the University of Paris 1) for all the students with an Erasmus Mundus fellowship
Mentor assigned to each student
Placement of students also organized at the Consortium level (in addition to the two universities)
D1 (First Year) = 60 ECTS all mandatory
- Courses in the local language: 2 ECTS for each semester (= 4 ECTS)
- 4 doctoral courses: 4 ECTS each (= 16 ECTS)
- PhD Proposal (elaboration of the PhD proposal with the two advisors and an external member): 5 ECTS - mandatory during the 1th semester - presentation scheduled during the first winter meeting (in february)
- Attendance in one research seminar: 2 ECTS
- Participation in the Summer School: 3 ECTS
- Research work to elaborate the dissertation: 30 ECTS ( including a written First Year Progress Report on the advancement of research - 5 ECTS)
D2 (Second Year) = 60 ECTS to be chosen in the mandatory and elective activities
Mandatory in D2: 45 ECTS (at least)
- Courses in the local language: 2 ECTS for each semester (= 4 ECTS)
- Attendance to two research seminars: 2 ECTS each (= 4 ECTS)
- Participation in the EDE-EM jamboree: 4 ECTS
- Research work to elaborate the dissertation: 30 ECTS (with a written Second Year Progress Report on the advancement of research)
- At least one of the mandatory activities in D2-D3 listed below
Elective in D2: 15 ECTS (at most) to be chosen in the list below
D3 (Third Year) = 60 ECTS to be chosen in the mandatory and elective activities
Mandatory in D3: 55 ECTS (at most)
- Courses in the local language: 4 ECTS
- Attendance to two research seminars: 2 ECTS each = 4 ECTS
- Participation in the EDE-EM jamboree: 4 ECTS
- The remaining mandatory activities in D2-D3 listed below
- Research work to elaborate a dissertation: 30 ECTS (with the final version of the Dissertation)
- Final Defense: 5 ECTS
Elective in D3: 5 ECTS (at least) to be chosen in the list below
D2-D3 Mandatory Activities:
- Pre-defense: 5 ECTS
- Presentation of a paper in the first university: 3 ECTS
- Presentation of a paper in the second univeristy: 3 ECTS
- Presentation of a paper in the Annual EDE-EM Jamboree: 5 ECTS
Elective Activities in D2 and D3
- (Additional) Doctoral course: 4 ECTS each
- Presentation at an international scientific conference: 8 ECTS
- Presentation of a paper at a research seminar outside the Consortium: 4 ECTS

- Accepted paper in a scientific journal: 8 ECTS
